SF Indie DOCFEST!
By Dawn | September 30, 2008
The first of our screenings at the SF DOC FEST is only a few weeks away!
- Sat, Oct 18 2008, 5:00 pm | Roxie Cinema
Wed, Oct 22 2008, 7:15 pm | Roxie Cinema
Sun, Nov 2 2008, 7:15 pm | Shattuck Cinema
Kristy and I will be at ALL of the screenings!
We hope that at least two girls from the film will be at all of the screenings as well. However, as you may know teen women have BUSY LIVES! Rosie is working on theater productions, school and her culinary arts. Ariana has been recruited by CAL State Monterey and will be attending at special event on their campus during our first screening (we wish her well). Esme is busy working and taking care of her nephew and Isha is practicing dance. They are all seniors in high school!
In addition to Kristy, the girls, and I, a number of staff and girls from our partner organizations will be present. They will be available to answer questions about programming for girls, teen health and sexuality, and policies-locally, state-wide and nationally that can have a positive effect for our youth. They will also talk about how they are using this film to train their staff, talk with girls about tough subjects and engage parents in conversations.
Partner organizations that will be present at one or more of the screenings, include:
- Girls Inc of Alameda County
- Children NOW
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the SF Bay Area
- BAYAC AmeriCorps
- BUMP Records
- BAVC-Next Generation
We are encouraging youth development organizations to bring youth, families, and staff to the screenings. There are discount tickets for large groups: 10 or more for $9; 20 or more for $8. Contact SF Indie Fest to purchase tickets.
Let us know that you are coming and we’ll introduce you at the screening! We want to support and promote ALL of the great work of youth organizations in the Bay Area!
We have been invited to speak on the nationally recognized radio program, Childhood Matters, THIS Sunday 10/5 at about 9:20 am. Tune in and you might win some FREE TICKETS to the screening!!
Check it out! See you in October!
